Kitchen Floor Plan Ideas and Layouts

L-shaped and open island layouts, sized around cabinet depth and working aisle width.

How to use these kitchen plans

A kitchen plan is really two measurements repeated: the depth of the run and the width of the aisle beside it. Base cabinets are almost always 24 inches deep with a 25 inch counter, so the room dimension you control is the gap between opposing runs.

Both layouts here spell out that aisle figure. Narrow it and doors collide; widen it too far and the work triangle stretches into extra steps for every meal.
