Comparison
EZ Floor Planner vs Canva
Canva is a general design platform whose floor plans are templates, shapes and text on its whiteboard canvas. EZ Floor Planner is an AI image generator made only for floor plans. Here is how the two compare, based on Canva's public pages.

Canva floor plan alternative: feature comparison
| Feature | EZ Floor Planner | Canva |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Fully browser-based, no install | Browser-based; floor plans are made on the infinite canvas of Canva Whiteboards |
| How a plan is made | Describe the rooms in words, or upload one image and describe a change; an AI model draws the plan | Start from a template or a blank whiteboard and drag lines, shapes and elements to stand for walls, doors and windows |
| Walls and rooms | Drawn by the image model as part of the picture, not as editable objects | Generic lines and shapes; its floor plan pages describe no dedicated wall or room object |
| Dimensions and scale | Labels follow the units you write in the prompt; measurements are approximate and the image is not to scale | Typed by hand as text or sticky notes; its floor plan pages describe no scale or automatic dimension tool |
| AI for floor plans | Text-to-image and one-image editing, in six drawing styles | No text-to-floor-plan generation on the pages we reviewed; its AI interior apps restyle or stage an uploaded room photo |
| Collaboration | No shared editing; each result is an image you open in your browser | Real-time collaboration, comments, sticky notes and task assignment, on Free and Pro |
| Export formats | PNG or one-page PDF download; no DXF or vector export yet | PDF, JPG and PNG on Free and Pro; SVG and transparent PNG on paid plans |
| Free tier | 10 welcome credits for the Z-Image draft model; other models use credits from a plan or pack | Canva Free at $0, including up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses |
| Paid plans | From $4.95/mo billed yearly; monthly plans from $9.90; one-time credit packs from $9.90 | Pro US$144/year or US$18/month for one person; Business US$250/year or US$25/month per person |
A design suite with floor plan templates, or a floor plan generator
Canva's floor plan page sits under its online whiteboard. You pick a template or start blank, then drag elements from the media library to stand for doors, windows and walls, add lines and shapes, and type room names on top. Everything else in Canva, such as flyers, presentations and social posts, is a click away, which is its real strength. EZ Floor Planner does one thing: you describe the rooms, or upload a plan and describe a change, and an AI model returns a labelled floor plan image in a technical, blueprint, coloured, 3D isometric, realistic or collage style. There is nothing to drag, and nothing to edit by hand afterwards.
Measurements and scale
Neither tool makes a measured drawing. Canva's floor plan pages tell you to add text to label rooms and indicate their dimensions, and describe no scale or automatic dimension tool, so the numbers are only as good as what you type. EZ Floor Planner's images carry dimension labels in the units you wrote, but they are approximate and the image is not to scale. If you need a plan you can build from, use dedicated floor plan software, CAD or a professional.
AI features
On the pages we reviewed, Canva does not generate floor plans from a text description. Its AI interior tools work on photos instead: the AI Interior Styler app restyles an uploaded room photo and, per its own page, needs purchased credits regardless of your Canva plan, while AI virtual staging adds or removes furniture in a photo from a prompt. In EZ Floor Planner the AI is the whole product: plans from a brief, edits to an uploaded plan, sketch-to-plan, a 3D isometric view of a 2D plan, and virtual staging of room photos.
Pricing, collaboration and export
Canva Free costs nothing and already includes real-time collaboration and PDF, JPG and PNG downloads. Canva Pro is US$144 a year or US$18 a month for one person and covers the whole of Canva, not only floor plans. EZ Floor Planner charges credits per generation, with plans from $4.95 a month billed yearly and one-time packs from $9.90; it has no shared editing, and results download as PNG or a one-page PDF. The two also work together: generate a plan image here, then place it in a Canva flyer or presentation.
Who should pick which
Choose Canva if…
You want to lay out a plan yourself from a template, style it to match other designs such as a listing flyer or a presentation, work on it with other people in real time and download it as a PDF or PNG, and you are happy to type the measurements in yourself.
Choose EZ Floor Planner if…
You would rather describe the rooms than drag shapes, and want a labelled floor plan image in a technical, blueprint, coloured or 3D style in under a minute, accepting approximate dimensions and no editable file.
