Lay Out Your Living Room

Describe the room, the seating and the focal point, then generate.

Living room floor plan with the seating arrangement drawn in

Example prompt

Living room 4.5m by 6m, L-shaped sofa facing a TV wall, fireplace on the side wall, open to the dining area.

Seating, focal point, and the path between them

A living room works when people can sit together and still walk through — the plan should show both.

  • Living room with a TV above a gas fireplace, built-in shelving and a grey sectional

    Seating arrangements you can name

An L-shaped sectional facing a media wall, two sofas facing each other, a single sofa and two chairs — describe the arrangement and it is drawn that way.

  • Living room with two facing sofas and a TV mounted above the fireplace

Focal points in the right place

TV wall, fireplace, or a window with a view: say which one the seating faces and the layout is built around it.

  • Open-plan living room connected to the dining area and kitchen

    Open-plan connections

Describe how the room opens to the kitchen or dining area and both zones appear in the plan. For the kitchen half, see the kitchen floor plan generator.

  • Living room plan of 20 by 14 ft with walking paths dashed around the seating, fireplace and TV area

    Circulation paths stay clear

Ask for a walkway between the seating and the doors, and the drawing shows the gap you have to work with rather than hiding it under furniture.

  • Living room plan of 10 by 12 ft with a sofa, table, TV area, fireplace and bookshelf

    Regenerate until it fits

To move the sofa or shift the TV wall, change that line of the description and generate again. For a different starting brief, open the floor plan creator and describe the room from scratch.

How it works

  1. Describe the room

Give the dimensions, the seating you want, and the focal point the seating should face.

  2. Generate

Your text is wrapped in a 2D architectural drawing style, so the result is a labelled plan rather than an interior photo.

  3. Review and refine

Open the result full size, reword and regenerate until the layout reads right. Earlier runs stay in History when you are signed in.

A text-to-plan tool: describe the living room and it returns a top-down 2D layout with seating, the focal point, and circulation drawn and labelled.

Yes — say the room is open to the dining area or kitchen and both zones are laid out together, with the opening between them shown.

Yes. Naming the shape and what it faces — "L-shaped sectional facing the fireplace" — gives a much more usable plan than "some seating".

Yes. Describe both and say which one the seating is oriented toward, since that decides the whole arrangement.

Not by dragging things around — the result is an image, not an editable drawing. Change the description and generate again; each run spends credits, and the cost is shown before you press Generate.

You can open the generated plan at full size and save the image, and it stays in your history to reopen later. Dedicated PNG, PDF and DXF export is planned but not live yet.
